Event Information

Directions

The event centre is the Community Centre. The Car Park is on the West Side of the A343 and the Community Centre on the East Side. See the map above. Use the tunnel at the North End of the Car Park. Please give way to any runners using the tunnel. Entrance to car parking postcode SO20 8DY w3w.galleries.comtemplate.hooked.

Map/Areas

1:4,000 on A3 waterproof paper, 5m contours. Map recently updated in 2023; area comprises housing estates, park land and the secure Army Air Corps Camp. Crossing the A343 at ground level is strictly forbidden and is marked OOB on the map. Please cross using the tunnel or be disqualified! Access to/from the secure confines of the AAC camp is only achieved through one gate (crossing point), which will be manned to allow access to participants.

Course

One hour score event, as per WNL guidelines. Odds and Evens, 14 of each and 250 points for each. The control number & points will be printed on map. Loose control descriptions will be available at registration. N.B. All juniors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Punching start outside the centre, collect eTag, queue & go! Touch free EMIT will be used on all courses (hire included within entry fee). Everyone must report to Download (at the centre) afterwards!!

28 controls with the following points, 14 for ten points, 10 for twenty points, 2 for 30 points and 2 for 50 points, total 500 points. The control numbers are from 101 for 10 points up through the points to 128 for 50 points.

Times

Registration: - 17:15 to 18:15 inside the Community Centre for eTag collection and Download

Starts: - 17:30 to 18:30. Directly outside the Community Centre

Courses close: - promptly at 19:45 please.

Facilities

Toilets Only (plus cup of tea if time allows). For Food the George Inn is 1.5 miles away on the A343 heading towards Salisbury. Serving food until 21:00. Phone 01264 782648 if you want to make a reservation.

Safety

All competitors must wear hi-viz tops and have sufficient lights to complete their course (take a back up!). No road crossings will be manned so please take care. Course/Points/safety details will be available on the night.

Do not cross the A343 other than by the tunnel, you have been warned.

Dogs

No Dogs allowed because we are using a Military Site

Footwear

Running shoes should be OK as the areas off road only have some limited muddy areas.

On the Course

Its a touch free event just hover your wrist above the control and check that the eTag flashes.

Do not go anywhere near the Start again after commencing your run it will clear your eTag.

Finish and Download

After punching at the Finish please make your way to Download.

Please remove your footwear before re-entering the hall.

Results

Results will be available on race-results.info and on the club website. Unfortunately Routegadget does not work well for score events.

Risk

Orienteering is an adventure sport; you are responsible for your own safety at the event and must not do anything that puts yourself or others at unnecessary risk.

Medical Conditions

If you have a high risk medical condition you want the organisers to be aware of please download and complete this form and place it in a sealed envelope with your name on it. This can be left at registration. Envelopes will only be opened if required for a medical emergency. Unopened envelopes should be collected after the event. Any unclaimed envelopes will be destroyed after the event.
